We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual to join our Machine Learning team as a Taxonomist. This role will focus on the modeling of the hierarchical relationships within our product to ensure our customers can move easily and efficiently through the product to find exactly what they are looking for. Our ideal candidate is equally comfortable working closely with a team or independently, flexible and responsive to shifting needs and priorities, and driven by a passion to organize and elucidate complex data domains.
This is a full-time position, working in the office at our Pittsburgh, PA location.

Scope of Responsibilities

• Work with clients and internal stakeholders to understand their data needs and develop taxonomies that enable easy access to critical data
• Develop and maintain data taxonomies in accordance with best practices 
• Work closely with ML engineers to develop and support classification pipelinesImplement data standards and taxonomy best practices, ensuring compliance and consistency across all datasets
• Create communication tools and artifacts to educate others internally on information management principles

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required

Required Skills
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Library Science, Information Management, or other related fields
• 2+ years of  direct experience in taxonomy and/or ontology development
• Proficiency  in data retrieval and data research techniquesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to quickly research, organize and understand new subject areas  Knowledge of taxonomy and metadata structures
• Ability to handle custom requests and complex system requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills
• Previous experience creating taxonomies for statistical model training and analysis
• Experience working in a product organization
• Experience working collaboratively across teams to build out scalable systems.
• Experience with  the nuances of a startup or other entrepreneurial environment
• Familiarity with U.S. Federal market space, specifically with national security, intelligence, or law enforcement communities
