Research Internship, US-China business relationship

Description

Hudson Institute is seeking interns looking to gain experience researching US and Allied economic strategy towards China. This will involve analysis of Chinese banking system, strategic industries, strategic corporations, and macroeconomic situation. Proficiency in Chinese language is a requirement, though candidates with experience in economics, finance, corporate valuation, and industry analysis will also be considered. . This intern will provide research and administrative support to Senior Fellow Jonathan Ward. In addition to being exposed to critical issues in the aforementioned subject areas, interns will spend significant time discussing these issues with their expert(s). Those who work onsite will also have the opportunity to assist with, and attend, Hudson Institute public events, as well as intern-specific events featuring Hudson scholars and experts across Washington, DC.

Responsibilities include

• Gathering and analyzing data from Chinese corporations' reports and PRC strategy documents for inclusion in reports and articles.
• Creating databases for financial metrics of Chinese companies. 
• Assessing supply chain movements through US and Chinese open-source materials. 
• Assisting the expert with research projects and presentations.
• Assisting with articles, op-eds, reports, and briefing memos.
• Assisting with administrative tasks and event support.

Requirements

•  Candidates should be recent graduates or current students working towards a degree in business, economics, security studies, Chinese language studies, or related fields. 
• Candidates should show a demonstrated interest in and understanding of both US-China economic relations and business in general
• Candidates should be able to work independently, manage their time wisely, and meet deadlines.
• Candidates should be detail-focused, reliable, professional, and possess strong research, writing, editing, and analysis skills, as well as excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Candidates should be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
• Candidates must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. 
• This is an in-person only position. Please indicate that you are able work in-person in your cover letter. 
• Especially interested in candidates with Chinese language skills and/or ability to understand complex economic reports.
