This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.
As part of a passionate and growing team of experts in the engines business unit, you will be responsible for providing direction and support to a team a cross functional team focused on increasing production rate for Blue Engines. The engines business unit provides propulsion for New Shepard, New Glenn, and the Advanced Development programs along with external customer launch vehicles. Blue engines are an essential element to achieving Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. As part of the team, you will contribute directly and significantly to the team’s impact on the future of human space exploration. This position will report to the Engines Business Unit deputy, Vice President.
We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.
Responsibilities:

As part of the engines business unit, will provide oversight; mentoring; and lead tiger teams to reduce cycle time for engine production programs in Huntsville.

Participate in daily stand ups; get to rate events; and other activities associated with getting engine production to rate

Expect this candidate to walk the shop floor, talk to technicians, manufacturing engineers, and responsible engineers to understand the blockers to production and then work to implement solutions from a design and/or manufacturing perspective

Using non-conformances as a measure, determine areas where design, inspection, or other improvements need to be made go reduce touch/support labor required to build engines

Evaluate all processes associated with engine production and ensure the “right” amount of inspection, x-ray, dy pen, cleaning and other processes are appropriately applied to operations.
Qualifications:

Passion for Blue Origin’s mission: Millions of people living and working in space to benefit earth!

B.S. in Engineering required with at least 20 years’ rocket engine development/ production experience

Demonstrated programmatic leadership experience

Excellent written, communication and presentation skills

Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to lead.

Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
