Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee.
Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty. Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

JOB TITLE: VP, Metro Region Operations, Grants and Contracts
JOB SUMMARY:
The VP, Central Region Operations, Grants and Contracts is responsible for the operational oversight and strategic direction of MHC’s largest clinic site, managing multiple service lines, including the primary care clinic, behavioral health clinic, and patient services call center. This role provides leadership to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The VP will work collaboratively with clinical and administrative leadership to optimize workflows, support regional growth, and enhance financial sustainability while fostering strong community partnerships.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational Leadership:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the primary care clinic, behavioral health clinic, transportation, and patient services call center, grant operations and current contracts ensuring seamless coordination between service lines.
- Implement operational best practices to enhance clinic efficiency and service delivery.
Strategic Planning & Growth:
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives to enhance service accessibility, expand capacity, and meet census growth targets.
- Identify and evaluate partnership opportunities with healthcare providers, managed care organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Identify and evaluate future grant funding opportunities and work with MHC’s Grant Manager to see application’s to completion.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, Medicaid/Medicare, and accreditation standards.
- Oversee the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and performance benchmarks.
Financial & Budget Management:
- Develop and manage location budgets in collaboration with the VP, Integrated Care, ensuring cost efficiency and financial sustainability.
- Monitor financial performance and identify areas for cost optimization and efficiency of operations.
Workforce & Performance Management:
- Supervise management teams for the primary care clinic, behavioral health clinic, housing, grants and patient services call center, providing guidance, performance oversight, and professional development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement among staff.
Stakeholder & Community Engagement:
- Serve as the primary representative of MHC’s Metro operations, maintaining strong relationships with healthcare partners, payers, and community organizations.
- Advocate for MHC’s mission, promoting its programs, beliefs, and services within the community.
Other Responsibilities:
- Responsible for attending all mandatory in-services, continuing education and annual health requirements.
