About the role

  • Our Operations team, composed of 6 people, is integrated in the Product Regulations and Stewardship department and focuses on preparation of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for commercial and R&I products, labels and certificates for the whole Solvay company portfolio in collaboration with Global Product Stewards, Hazard Communication, Toxicology and Compliance teams.

  • This position will report directly to the Global Product Stewardship Manager and be part of the PRS management team, wihtin the Industrial Function category.

  • The Operations manager will manage a team with 5 team members located in Portugal and France, define the processes and procedures, ensure the adequate interfaces with the other Product Regulations and Stewardships (PRS) teams and with our internal customers, the Global Business Units (GBUs), and other partner teams as Industrial Hygiene. The Operations Manager is a key position enhancing product safety, regulatory compliance, and overall operational efficiency. The Operations manager also is responsible for the Solvay portfolio and responsible for authorizing SDSs and other Hazard Communication documentation as the Regulatory Data Summaries and regulatory Certificates and responding to customer inquiries.

 

  • You will be accountable for:

    • Being an individual contributor and managing the team

    • Trust the team to deliver and achieve the objectives set while providing coaching customized to each individual

    • Ensure the delivery of reliable and compliant Hazard Documentation to protect workers, customers, environment and Solvay Intellectual Property

    • Ensure the quality and compliance of SDSs content and harmonize their content across Solvay in collaboration with the GBUs, HazCom and other experts

    • Ensure accurate and reliable answers to internal and external requests for product safety information on company products, including the creation of Regulatory Data Sheets and regulatory certificates

    • Ensure creation and keeping Product Stewardship records relating to company products, intermediates and raw materials

    • Influence/guide the development of new systems/databases/improvement programs, etc. that may impact Hazard Communication documents

    • Work together in close collaboration with the other Product Stewardship team managers and teams itself

    • Define the processes and the procedures to ensure the best organisation and Solvay Hazard Communication compliance

    • Identify patterns, problems, and opportunities for continuous improvement by extracting and analyzing diverse data

    • Support for project management activities, including planning, execution, and monitoring of initiatives aimed at enhancing operational performance

  • We offer a permanent ontract based on a hybrid working mode.

 

About you

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Science or equivalen with preferably more than 3 years of experience in a similar field

  • Familiarity with CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) and GHS (Globally Harmonized System)

  • Regulatory Affairs knowledge
  • Understanding of global chemical regulations (e.g., CLP, GHS, OSHA, REACH) and their practical application is key. Deep knowledge of SAP is a significant asset, as all maintenance operations are handled in the system

  • Essential experience in authoring globally compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS), including extended SDS, and various other Hazard Communication documents

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights.
