Job Title: Construction General Laborer II


OBJECTIVE: Entry level position that provides support during various stages of the construction process, while having the ability to grow and learn new skills in a construction environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain clean project sites and work areas as needed
  • Assist carpenters, siders, site superintendents and other tradespeople on-site
  • Handle and transporting materials
  • Efficient and safe use of power tools, measuring and cutting of materials
  • Assist Site Superintendent with inventory of materials
  • Assist Site Superintendent with building quality control
  • Frequent lift operations 
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent is required
  • Must have valid driver’s license with reliable transportation to and from the job site
  • Proficient understanding of building materials
  • Able to follow all company and OSHA safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to maintain excellent attendance record
  • Ability to work in a team environment and individually based on specific job requirements
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to work at various heights
  • Proficient residential construction knowledge/skills
  • Basic knowledge of reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and shop drawings
  • Ability to read a tape measurer

Preferred:

  • A minimum of one year of general construction is preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, and 80 pounds at times
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, twisting/turning, crouching, crawling
  • Ability to climb, work on and carry a ladder
  • Comfortable working at various heights

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position involves working in all climates as well as multi-story buildings on an active construction site. This role routinely is exposed to dust and noise associated with saws and power tools.  

Special Requirements: This position requires regular in-state travel with the ability to work 45 - 50 hours per week Monday – Friday, with occasional hours outside of that range as business necessitates. This position may require overnight stay near job sites regularly.
