Pathology Slide Processor

Job Summary: Performs technical preparation of cytology slides from ThinPrep samples for microscopic examination; presents quality control screening of slides.


Essential Functions:
▪ Identify cytology specimens.
▪ Create sample worksheets utilizing dMDL.
▪ Label cytology imaging slides with patient identifiers.
▪ Preparing slides utilizing ThinPrep 2000
▪ Operate Veristain
▪ Operate Tissue-Tek Film cover slipper for cytology imaging slides
▪ Load and operate ThinPrep Imaging System
▪ Process sample worksheets
▪ Manual preparation of cytology slide using GAA protocol


Additional Responsibilities:
▪ Coordination of waste disposal
▪ Coordination with Cytology manager
▪ Record keeping
▪ Assures activities are conducted in a safe manner and materials are handled according to safety guidelines.
▪ Assures customer privacy is maintained at all times.
▪ Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities.
▪ Assures information is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable.
▪ Initiative is demonstrated to proactively diagnose and resolve problems.
▪ Productive work habits are consistently displayed.
▪ Accuracy and quality are maintained for all activities.

Job Qualifications: General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) required
▪ 3 month Clinical Laboratory Accessioner Training preferred

Physical Demands: Physical, Mental and workplace Environment Conditions
▪ Ability to sit, stand, walk and perform repetitive motion
▪ Proficient visual and audio skills

Working Conditions: Workplace Environment Conditions
▪ May be exposed to chemicals, body fluids.
▪ Use of personal protective equipment

Education and Experience:
▪ High school
▪ Medical experience preferred
