Facilities Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks to ensure the facility's systems and equipment—including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs—are operational and safe. This role requires a strong working knowledge of building codes and safety procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and conduct routine preventive maintenance checks.
• Identify potential issues by regularly inspecting building systems and equipment.
• Perform repairs and general upkeep of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
• Collaborate with and support the Facilities Manager with facility-related tasks.
• Coordinate with and oversee outside contractors as needed.
• Execute other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing diverse maintenance issues.
• Ability to work independently to identify, research, and resolve problems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all organizational levels.
• Collaborative team player with excellent organizational skills.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and adherence to proper procedures.
• Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and working extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a maintenance role, preferably within a pharmacy facility.
• Experience using and maintaining various hand and power tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and working knowledge of building codes and safety practices.
• Experience with commercial mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, leak detection, etc.).
• Lift truck certification preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other industry-related software programs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Prior experience in the maintenance industry.
• Familiarity with badge/security systems such as Verkada or Win-Pak.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in a production/warehouse environment with exposure to noise and machinery.
• Must be able to sit, stand, lift, push, and pull containers up to 50 pounds.
• Requires gross and fine motor coordination to operate tools and equipment.
• Physical stamina to perform maintenance tasks over extended periods.
