This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in the Finance and Accounting department.
The mission of the Finance and Accounting Department at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the accurate and efficient management of the department's financial resources. The Finance and Accounting Department is committed to transparency, accountability, and the prudent stewardship of public funds to enhance the overall financial integrity and sustainability of the department.
JOB DUTIES:
- Monthly and Year-End Closing: Assist with the completion of the Department’s monthly and fiscal year-end closing processes.
- Financial Reporting and Reconciliation: Perform various financial reporting and reconciliation activities, including reconciling FLAIR, cash receipts, disbursements, property, and interfund/interagency transactions.
- Annual Financial Report Preparation: Assist in preparing annual financial forms and supporting schedules for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in accordance with GAAP and state requirements.
- FLAIR Code Management: Set up and maintain FLAIR accounting codes, ensuring accurate and effective financial reporting.
- Data Analysis and Compliance: Analyze and interpret financial data to ensure compliance, execute corrective actions for errors, and assist with special projects as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Four (4) or more years of government accounting experience.
- Postsecondary education may substitute on a year for year basis for the required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) or more years of State of Florida accounting experience.
- Two (2) or more years of FLAIR experience.
- Experience creating and/or maintaining the FLAIR Chart of Accounts codes.
- Experience creating accounting entries and reconciling financial information.
- State of Florida year-end processing experience and/or experience in preparing governmental financial statements.
