Senior Lighting Technical Assistant

Lighting TA's mainly give support and technical support to all Backend departments (Matte, Final layout, Compositing, FX) with priority always to the Lighting department. We mainly solve all the technical problems that any person in the studio may have that do not require explicit need to be solved by a TD, Render TD or a rep from another department.

Responsibilities

• Keeps up on current artistic methodologies and on technology trends and tools that best suit the production and the company in the development of a stronger creative and technical environment. 
• Works together with the team providing them with support, guidance and instruction in areas that contribute towards their artistic and professional growth. 
• Follows the Supervisor’s and Lead's guidance. 
• Give technical support to the Lighting Department
• Help to filter tickets for the Technology Department
• Work closely with the wranglers team and Render TDs regarding Farm Logs
• Solve any technical problems from the lighting department that may not need the help from a TD
• Directly assists all lighting artists (senior/mid/junior).
• Render debugging and troubleshooting shots with Solaris, Arnold and USD.
• Investigate render metrics for assets and shots.
• Learn about pipeline, workflow and USD from surfacing to compositing.
• Take care of the specific needs that the lighting and compositing department may have during production. 
• Check final output renders and updates comp scripts.

Requirements

• 5+ years in VFX or animation industries. 
• 3+ years in the animation industry. 
• Knowledge of Animation or VFX workflows. 
• Experience working with Maya and Arnold.
• USD and Houdini/Solaris knowledge is a plus. 
• Knowledge of compositing package Nuke. 
• High English level desirable.
