Summary 

Boys and Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley Leaders in Training (LIT) program is a leadership program for high school members at our Clubhouses providing impact in academic success, career preparation, and community service. The LIT program fosters a positive self-identity; college and career readiness; financial literacy; employment; social, emotional, and cultural competencies; community and civic involvement; health and life skills, and a moral compass. 

We are seeking a Director of Leaders in Training with primary responsibility for this program and the Youth of the Year (YOY) program; developing curriculum for the Leaders in Training program; researching internship opportunities; developing college and career programming, and local resources for Club teens ages 13 – 18+. Supervise the Leaders in Training members, develop and manage school relationships, and membership administration. The Director of Leaders in Training may be responsible for programs at two or more sites.  


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Responsible for directing, developing, and expanding the Leaders in Training program 
  • Develop curricular goals and outlines for new curriculum and curriculum updates. 
  • Involve staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student-learning needs. 
  • Expand college and career readiness programs, in collaboration with LIT members, and Executive Director 
  • Develop workplace preparation programs, in collaboration with LIT staff members and Executive Director 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with school administrators and city and county officials to expand program, in collaboration with LIT staff members and Executive Director 
  • Build Youth of the Year into a premier program with strong participation from LIT staff members  
  • Partner with Resource Development and Chief Development Officer on Youth of the Year donor relations and Youth of the Year gala 
  • Track data and meet deliverables for program grants 
  • Build and maintain relationships with teens and their families  
  • Develop programs and activities that prepare youth for success in accordance with our mission and vision 
  • Approach challenges and collaborations with a strengths-based and positive attitude 
  • Participate in county-wide program quality improvement efforts 
  • Supervise other staff during teen nights and other teen programs when assigned  
  • Market and promote programs to recruit and retain teen members  
  • Ensure teen participation in impact programs  
  • Conduct outreach and recruitment programs to reach underserved teen youth  
  • Maintain the safety of the Clubhouse 
  • Participate in special programs or events as directed 
  • Take initiative in researching best practice programs and proven methods for youth development 
  • Responsible for ensuring that member and program data is entered into the member tracking system 

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience working with youth and understanding of youth development  
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience 
  • A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization  
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • Strong presentation skills 
  • Negative TB test 
  • CPR and First Aid Certification within three months of hire 
  • Background check clearance 
  • Clean driving record 
  • At least five years of driving experience 
  • Reliable transportation
