The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead and grow our talented Cloud Infrastructure teams. You will drive the evolution of our cloud-based infrastructure, from networking to compute and orchestration to streaming and messaging and workflows. You will lead teams building and operating our cloud infrastructure to take SoFi to the next level, increasing resilience every step of the way. What You’ll Do:

• Develop and execute the strategic vision for cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with leadership to define long term cloud strategies that enhance scalability, resilience and reliability, and performance.
• Lead and mentor teams of skilled cloud engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Establish clear goals and provide guidance to ensure the successful execution of programs and initiatives.
• Drive the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Oversee day to day operations, ensuring optimal operation of highly resilient and reliable cloud platforms.
• Track and report project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration throughout the software development process.
• Foster strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, promoting effective communication, coordination, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with other engineering leaders, technical program managers, and stakeholders to deliver value, drive operational excellence, and ensure a highly reliable overall architecture.

 

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of proven experience in strong leadership roles, preferably within cloud infrastructure and software engineering fields.
• Deep expertise in designing and managing cloud-based solutions with a strong focus on security and compliance.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) princip[les and tools.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Istio, Kafka, or Temporal, is a plus.
• Experience working in a regulated industry, such as finance, is a plus.
