Job Description:
Job Summary:
The Intermodal Operations Specialist is a key team member of a high energy and ever-evolving department that supports our Intermodal pick-up and delivery services for our clients. They will be responsible for end-to-end-services for ensuring a client’s shipments are properly setup with appointments, drop & picks, live load/unload, and whatever means our clients need us for smooth transportation services. This position encompasses someone with a strong background in Logistics, Intermodal, and Client Solutions, and a drive for excellence. This role requires hands-on leadership and a person who is capable and willing to jump in for support and assistance to his/her colleagues with confident and strategic solutions. This individual will report to the Manager of Intermodal Operations. This individual will assist in driving of organic growth within the Intermodal carrier and customer portfolio.
Essential Functions:
Fully knowledgeable of all Intermodal aspects of our TMS and how the workflow is setup to be as efficient as possible; brings suggestions how to automate and improve processes; challenges status quo for better process flow.
Able to input and execute loads for dispatch/pick-up/delivery according to clients’ needs and requirements; is highly flexible and can mold to difficult customer demands.
Develop a proactive relationship with the assigned customer accounts by resolution of issues and concerns in a timely manner and provide innovative solutions.
Establish and create strategic carrier relationships in an assigned region at different Intermodal rail ramps.
Builds key relationships with both carriers and customers to ensure Cardinal Logistics is seen as best-in-class service provider; proactive communicator via phone & email follow up.
Excellent sense of container tracking to ensure we avoid all detention, demurrage, per diem, storage, etc.; Comes up with unique and effective solutions to eliminate these costs.
Ensure all documentation regarding Intermodal shipments are correct, clear and communicated to the appropriate parties; able to proactively identify when missing details will causes problems before they occur.
Support with shipment audits of transport booking files within the POD and offer lasting solutions when repeat errors are uncovered.
Financially savvy to ensure carriers are invoicing based on quoted services.
Duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time.
Qualifications
H.S. Diploma/GED, Required
Bachelor's degree in business, Logistics, or related field of study, Preferred
3 years or more in Business related experience, Required
MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc) Intermediate, Required
