About the role

Description

The Quincy Family Welcome Center (QFWC) is a program operated through Bay State Community Service in coordination with the Massachusetts state Emergency Management and the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC). The QFWC is one access point where unhoused families can apply the family shelter system through eligibility and prioritization screening conducted on-site. The QFWC also serves as a connection point for agencies such as the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA), area community service providers, and more.


The housekeeping and food service attendant will be responsible for maintaining the facility throughout the day, coordinating family guest meal service, and assisting QFWC staff in organizing and preparing supplies for distribution.


What You Will Be Doing to Make a Difference...

  • General housekeeping duties, such as: maintaining the restrooms, emptying office trash, cleaning up spills, light vacuuming, general tidying throughout the day, etc.
  • Coordinate meals for all family guests on site with prearranged food providers.
  • Ensure program compliance with safe food handling procedures, temperature, and storage practices, etc.
  • Report number of meals served after each meal service time.
  • Empty food trash and maintain the cleanliness of food service and dining areas.
  • Support QFWC staff when receiving, unboxing, organizing, and distributing consumable goods to family guests.
  • Support the QFWC staff in directing families while they are waiting for services.
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisors related to facility maintenance and family guest support.
  • Treat all service recipients with dignity, respect and understanding; promotes agency culture of learning and respect to others; maintains a positive work environment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, including family guests’ confidential information.
  • Follow agency policies and procedures including emergencies, processing of incident reports, safety issues, other critical information, and communication.
  • Participate in mandated meetings and trainings organized by the Agency and/or by the programs.

Requirements

Qualifications

  

· Speaking a relevant second language is a plus; preference given to those speaking Haitian-Creole, Spanish, and/or Portuguese.

· at least 1-2 years of housekeeping experience.

· ServSafe certification a plus, but not required for application.

· Experience with youth and families new to the US preferred.
