We are seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University studying molecular mechanism of RNases related to human health and disease. The Post Doctoral Scholar will embark on a program of independent research with the primary goal to determine how RNases regulate gene expression in the cell. The candidate will help establish new experimental protocols and participate in novel research.  This position will require both independent and collaborative work, the ability to learn new techniques and self-manage projects. Duties will include conducting laboratory work centered around biology of RNases; leading manuscript preparation for submission to peer-reviewed journals; and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. The Post Doctoral Scholar will also actively participate in weekly lab meetings. 

Required: 

PhD in Molecular Biology or a related field by the time of hire is required. Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining lab equipment; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and a collaborative mentality towards research and mentoring. 

Desired skills and techniques include protein expression and purification, in vitro translation assays, polysome profiling and cell culture experiments. These required and desired skills should be demonstrated through a record of peer-reviewed publications.
