JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position will oversee all monitoring and compliance operations for both the state’s adult use cannabis and medical cannabis programs. In addition, this position will manage and oversee the Office of Cannabis Policy’s (OCP) compliance staff.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Developing and organizing internal compliance, inspection, and investigation processes and procedures for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Developing and overseeing the office’s compliance, inspection, and investigation policies to ensure established standards are met.
- Developing standard operating procedures for all compliance operations.
- Conducting due diligence investigations into certain applications and licensees.
- Working closely with policy staff to ensure our program’s compliance and enforcement operations operate in an effective and efficient manner.
- Working closely with the data team to better understand operations and areas for improvement.
- Working closely with OCP licensing and enforcement staff to better understand operations and areas for improvement.
- Managing day-to-day compliance operations and field investigator staff.
EXPERIENCE PREFERED:
- Experience working with state statutes, rules and regulations.
- Experience developing standard operating procedures.
- Experience conducting research, investigations, and compliance inspections.
- Experience working or liaising with law enforcement.
- Experience working or liaising with government agencies to coordinate compliance and enforcement efforts or similar intergovernmental collaborations.
- Experience working with municipal governments.
- Experience working in an organization focused on regulation, especially regulation of a controlled substance.
- Experience supervising teams and/or staff tasked with performing any of the preferred experiences noted above, especially investigations and inspections.
- Well-developed understanding of civil, criminal, and administrative procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Legal, public policy, compliance or law enforcement background.
- Bachelors’ degree or higher (extensive and documented experience well beyond the minimal qualifications may be considered in leu of a Bachelors’ degree).
- Management experience.
- Strong speaking/writing skills and professional aptitudes.
- Ability to manage several priorities at once by multitasking and problem solving with other team members.
