Job Description
The Senior Staff Software Engineer in Payment Products Development (PPD) will be part of a Clearing and Settlement (CAS) team developing the Long-term Architecture for Visa Clearing Exchange (VCX) application that is the interface between Visa and Processing Centers’ internal payment processing systems. VCX is a critical application that is used by Visa’s clients worldwide for processing and receiving transaction data to and from the VisaNet. The role requires a firm understanding of existing software development in agile methodology. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in software engineering, be an excellent communicator, and above all be customer and team focused.
The candidate will work closely with peers in the development team and our test engineering team as well as PPD’s project management and architecture groups to design, code, test, and implement new features, as well as modifications, and corrections to existing software.
Essential Functions:
Work with stakeholders (business/product) and the architecture to develop and refine technical specifications as a team lead
Coach and mentor junior engineers on the team and help them remove barriers
Leading and motivating team of developers toward given targets
Design projects and deliver well tested solutions
Establish a working relationship with other groups across the organization to successfully implement business requirements while applying the latest available tools and technology
Ensure on-schedule delivery of a high-quality product that meets technical requirements
Clearly communicate to management on the status of projects or other issues
Ability to represent technical and business issues and solutions to multiple levels internally and externally to support strategic organizational plan
Ability to support product with 24x7 rotational pager
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• 5 or more years of experience on C/C++ on Windows and Linux development
• Extensive technical experience of C/C++ with focus on performance
• Experience in developing applications in Linux and/or Windows environment
• Strong working knowledge in object-oriented design, algorithm, and data structure
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong debugging skills
• Exposure to any mainframe-based technologies would be beneficial
• Knowledge of programming languages like JavaScript/Node.js are desired
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computer
