This is a hybrid position located in Columbus Ohio and you will be required to come into the office two days per week. 

As a key contributor on the Investment Controllership Technology & Transformation team, this role is responsible for governing Nationwide’s custom data and report groupings on the new Clearwater investment accounting platform through the development and execution of data control procedures that ensure completeness and accuracy of critical data elements. In addition, this role will provide surge support for various investment accounting and reporting functions across Investment Controllership during quarterly cycles. Key components of this role include:

  • Function as a data expert with end-to-end knowledge of Nationwide’s custom data elements and report groupings on the new Clearwater investment accounting platform
  • Perform an essential data quality role as part of the transformational Investment Platform Redesign project’s transition to production
  • Execute quarterly investment accounting and reporting deliverable preparation and review tasks as requested
  • Commit to continuous upskilling and assist in driving the expansion of process automation and data visualization to ensure efficient and effective data management processes

The ideal candidate will be curious, adaptable, dependable, detail oriented, proficient with low code data prep and analysis tools, and will also be an excellent communicator and team player with the desire and ability to quickly learn and grow.

This role does not qualify for employer sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.

As a Senior Accountant, you'll perform complex and advanced accounting functions. You'll acquire, assemble, evaluate, interpret, record and analyze financial data of all types and sources ultimately used to prepare statements for the various regulatory and statutory authorities and for internal management at all levels.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and analyzes financial documents for the company and/or business areas as assigned and required.

  • Reviews, as requested, for accuracy, proper documentation and completeness, all reports, forms and data provided for the proper and accurate submission of required reports and statements, both internal and external.

  • Maintains accounting records as needed for the coordination, preparation and submission of the various required reports.

  • Develops and submits complex accounting and financial transactions required to insure proper reporting.

  • Corresponds with various field staff or outside sources about difficulties, discrepancies or other matters as directed and needed.

  • Keeps informed of changes to GAAP and/or STAT requirements.

  • Participates in development of changes to area(s) of responsibility that would enhance, improve or facilitate job performance, processing or workflow.

  • Participates in the development and design of new systems and processes.

  • Assists in the preparation and analysis of complex pro forma financial information required for compliance with new requirements, situations or reinsurance agreements.

  • Completes, as assigned, reports or projects in an accurate manner including proper documentation.
