The Medtronic Diabetes Operating Unit is on a mission to deliver the power of an Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) algorithm, as well as a Multiple Daily Injection (MDI) therapy, with its proven benefits to give people with Diabetes a choice in the treatment approach that is right for them. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to be part of a dynamic and high-impact team to work on and lead the InPen iOS team to maintain a commercial Multiple Daily Injection (MDI) mobile application. The best candidates will be ‘engineers’. That is, critical thinkers who solve problems efficiently, pragmatically, and continually seek information from all sources. Strong relationship skills are a must, as is excellent verbal and written communication.

This position is onsite (hybrid, 3 days per week onsite) in San Diego, CA

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Experience developing and maintaining complex mobile applications in iOS

  • Working knowledge of Objective-C and Swift

  • Self-motivated with great written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to coach others on software development and provide constructive feedback to improve other’s designs and implementation

  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs, and unit tests mobile apps, components, and tools independently without any guidance

  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills; can identify root cause of complex problems and provide solutions to such complex issues

  • Knowledge of mobile application security (Certificate pinning, TLS, SSO, etc.)

  • Work closely with quality and systems teams to ensure the product works properly from end-to-end, both pre and post-release.

  • Participate and contribute to product code and design review

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • 7 years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Sciences

  • Or, advanced degree with 4 years of experience

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of Firebase

  • Objective-C and Swift

  • iOS development

  • Experience coordinating with remote teams

  • Experience working in a regulated industry

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$140,800.00 - $211,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations
