Lockheed Martin Enterprise Operations is seeking an Accounting Intern to join our Global Financial Services (GFS) team in Lakeland, FL.

In this role, you will play a critical role in assisting with billings for certain Lockheed Martin sites. This includes timely and accurate billings to ensure consistent, timely cash flow, timely problem resolution and maintenance of appropriate invoicing controls, and maintaining, analyzing, and troubleshooting related accounting issues and transactions. You will also provide assistance with contract analysis and reconciliation, support continuous process improvement, and maintain familiarity with government contracting. Some contact with customers is also required to ensure consistent, timely cash flow.

This position requires staying focused on internal Billings & Collections (B&C) and external (business area, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)) policies and procedures, and utilizes various systems and processes while maintaining frequent contact with business partners. You will be responsible for maintaining required financial controls and supporting audits as necessary. To excel in this role, you will need to be proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word, and be able to work well in a team environment.

Basic Qualifications

• Demonstrated previous experience performing Accounting, Finance or Economics-related tasks (experience can be obtained through college coursework/projects, internships or on the job)
• Basic level proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word

Desired skills

• Demonstrated experience performing accounting journal transaction posting and related impacts
• Demonstrated experience performing analytical and evaluation tasks
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and performing multiple tasks
• Demonstrated user level proficiency with Financial Accounting software and systems
• Intermediate level proficiency using Microsoft Excel (Pivot Table, Power queries, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP)
• Ability to maintain required financial controls and to support audits as necessary
• Ability to comprehend and perform to defined procedures and processes
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Experience with billing functionality in SAP
