Accountant I

Position Summary:

The Accountant assists in the financial activities of the organization, including project accounting and revenue/AR reporting. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of accounting processes and a focus on continuous improvement.

What You'll Do:

Project Accounting

• Primarily responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of a project as it progresses.

• Monitor, track, and coordinate closing projects.

• Assist project reviews by running status reports, revenue recognition related checks and coordinate any necessary updates to AR, Operations, or IT.

• Collaborate with FP&A to ensure project financials are flowing to PowerBI in an accurate/timely manner.

• Analyze records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenues, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred.

• Prepare ad-hoc requests for management: sales by location, analyze/summarize key drivers impacting projects.

• Apply accounting principles to analyze financial data and prepare reports that support management decision-making.

• Assist the Project Accounting Manager in managing controls procedures and audit requests.

Process Improvement & Compliance

• Assist in the enhancement, development, and implementation of initiatives related to month-end close, financial reporting, and operational efficiency.

• Recommend and implement new ideas for continuous process improvement across accounting and operations.

• Support the Controller in managing control procedures and audit requests.

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

• Perform monthly close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reports in coordination with the finance team.

• Support monthly reporting submissions to the corporate parent company.

 

Accounts Receivable & Revenue

• Assist in managing AR and revenue processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.

 

Sales and Use Tax

• Own the sales and use tax process, including filings, review of tax exemptions, and validation of tax rates for estimating and billing purposes.

What You Bring: 

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or Related

• 2+ years of Staff Accounting experience

• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work cross-functionally and self-direct work.
