About the role
The Chief Engineer for Holiday Inn Express and TownePlace Suites in Buckhead, GA, will oversee the maintenance operations for both properties, ensuring that all building systems, equipment, and grounds are functioning efficiently and safely. This role will manage engineering teams at both hotels and ensure that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are maintained to brand standards. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for budgeting, project planning, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:Property Maintenance Management:Oversee daily maintenance operations across both properties, ensuring efficient and safe functioning of all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.Schedule and supervise preventive maintenance tasks and respond to repair requests in a timely manner.Ensure the upkeep of grounds, parking areas, and common spaces.Team Leadership:Supervise and train the engineering and maintenance teams at both hotels.Develop team schedules and manage workloads to ensure adequate coverage.Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, focusing on skill development and efficiency.Project & Budget Management:Manage capital projects, including upgrades, renovations, and repairs.Collaborate with hotel management to create and manage maintenance budgets for both properties.Negotiate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers for materials and services while staying within budget.Compliance & Safety:Ensure that both properties comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as brand standards.Implement safety protocols and regular safety training for the engineering teams.Conduct regular property inspections and address potential hazards promptly.Vendor & Contractor Relations:Establish and maintain relationships with contractors, suppliers, and external service providers.Oversee the scheduling of outsourced repairs and maintenance services, ensuring timely completion.Reporting & Documentation:Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.Prepare monthly reports on maintenance activities, budget tracking, and any ongoing projects.Participate in management meetings and present updates on engineering operations for both hotels.
Qualifications:Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or similar leadership role in hospitality or commercial property management.Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.Experience managing multiple teams and properties simultaneously.Familiarity with budgeting, cost control, and capital project management.Excellent organizational and leadership skills.Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks.Strong communication skills to collaborate with hotel leadership, contractors, and vendors.Proficiency in building maintenance software and Microsoft Office suite.Certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems (preferred).Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
Education & Experience:High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in maintenance-related fields.Minimum of 5 years of experience in a hotel or facilities management role, with at least 2 years in a leadership position.Previous experience managing dual properties or multiple facilities is highly preferred.
