Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt ; Pay: $30.00/hour ; Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ; Location: Santa Ana 100% In-Person

Job Summary: The HR Supervisor - Payroll is responsible for overseeing all payroll functions in addition to managing a team of Payroll Specialists and the organization’s HR Generalists. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with relevant regulations, and efficient HR operations. The HR Supervisor - Payroll will also contribute to strategic HR initiatives and support overall employee satisfaction. This position requires some travel to the various regions in which Mercy House operates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Payroll Management and Department Operations
- Review and verify payroll data, including timesheets, benefits deductions, and tax withholdings
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Handle payroll discrepancies and resolve any payroll-related issues
- Maintain payroll records and prepare reports for management
- Assist in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures
- Ensure HR practices comply with company policies and legal requirements
- Collaborate with other departments to address HR-related issues and improve overall HR processes
- Support HR initiatives such as employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and wellness programs
Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of Payroll Specialists to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll
- Supervise HR Generalists by providing guidance and support in their daily activities
- Ensure HR Generalists maintain accurate employee records and handle employee inquiries efficiently
Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and analyze payroll and HR reports for management review
- Identify trends and areas for improvement within payroll and HR operations
- Provide recommendations based on data analysis to enhance HR efficiency and effectiveness
Miscellaneous
- Attend staff meetings
- Attends quarterly trainings
- Enhance job performance by applying up-to-date professional and technical knowledge gained by attending seminars and conferences and reviewing professional publications
- Take initiative; demonstrate strong decision-making and organizational skills
- Initiate best practices; develop efficiency improvements
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by your supervisor
Qualifications
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related experience
- Experience with HRIS and payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paycom)
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems, procedures
