Position Title: Facilities General Maintenance Worker

Location: Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD), Panama City, FL

Job Summary: We are seeking diligent and skilled individuals for the role of Facilities General Maintenance Workers to provide essential support services for NSWC PCD's facilities management. This position involves performing various semi-skilled labor activities to ensure the maintenance and functionality of approximately 85 buildings and 50 smaller structures.

Responsibilities:

  • Furniture Management: Transport, install, and reconfigure office furniture systems and stand-alone furniture. Stow and retrieve items as needed for facilities activities or space moves.

  • Minor Maintenance Tasks:

    • Replace damaged ceiling tiles, insulation, faceplates, water fountain filters, and perform minor painting tasks (up to 1000 square feet per job).

    • Hang or mount whiteboards, video display wall brackets, and perform basic drywall repairs.

    • Adjust and maintain doors, door closers, and automatic door openers.

    • Clean up after water intrusion events, close tripped breakers, and maintain air vents/diffusers.

    • Handle basic plumbing tasks like replacing toilet components, faucets, sink lines, and unclogging sinks, toilets, and drains.

    • Secure racks to floors, tint and re-caulk windows, install or repair flooring, computer flooring, cove base, baseboards, and window treatments.

  • Operational Support:

    • Operate forklifts, heavy equipment, and man-lifts for daily project tasks.

    • Investigate trouble calls from the NSWC PCD help desk and report back with detailed information.

    • Prepare for and respond to destructive weather conditions by managing sandbag placement, removal, and other necessary measures.

    • Monthly delivery of government-furnished paper supplies and support for on-base events by setting up and taking down event furniture and equipment.

    • Conduct regular physical inventories of government-owned furniture in warehouses and walk-throughs of non-restricted spaces to maintain lighting, emergency systems, and accessibility equipment.

  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety protocols, including OSHA standards for ladder use and equipment operation.

    • Ensure compliance with environmental standards during tasks like pressure washing.
