The anticipated salary range for this role is between $122,000.00 and $175,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
As part of SMBC Americas' strategy to build a commercially competitive, U.S. regulatory-based Commercial and Investment Bank, SMBC Americas Division has launched an organizational transformation initiative aligning all end-to-end efforts across the organization.
We are seeking experienced Program Managers to lead enterprise-wide data transformation and governance initiatives. The ideal candidates will bring strong program delivery capabilities, a foundational understanding of data management principles, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory and control environments. The role will manage end-to-end delivery for large-scale transformation programs and remediation programs with primary focus on regulatory remediation and regulatory defense programs. This role requires a strategic mindset, operational execution skills, and strong collaboration across global business, technology, and risk stakeholders.
Role Objectives: Delivery
- Drive large-scale data and technology transformation programs from inception through execution, including planning, budgeting, stakeholder alignment, and delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex programs and projects end-to-end, ensuring alignment to timelines, proactively addressing risks, and escalating issues to the right stakeholders at the right time.
- Partner with Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Technology teams to ensure program objectives align with regulatory expectations and internal control standards.
- Lead the coordination and execution of remediation activities related to regulatory findings and audit observations, ensuring timely closure, documentation, and sustainable control implementation.
- Develop program roadmaps and execution plans in alignment with strategic business objectives and enterprise data goals.
- Maintain ownership of program plans and delivery milestones, driving execution through structured tracking, proactive issue resolution, and timely stakeholder engagement.
- Apply disciplined program management practices to coordinate cross-functional teams, manage interdependencies, and ensure timely decision-making across complex initiatives.
- Deliver clear and consistent communications, reporting, and documentation to stakeholders at all levels.
- Support the operationalization of enterprise data capabilities including data retention, metadata, data lineage, data quality, and control implementation.
- Oversee coordination with external vendors, consultants, or global teams as required for implementation efforts.
- Define program stakeholders, scope, timing, resource requirements and deliverables. Engage stakeholders across multiple business units and functional areas to ensure alignment and participation and agree on target end state and ownership.
