Founded in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Syndetix has been a trusted source for base support, engineering and specialized tasks in testing and evaluation for the military for over 25 years.   Syndetix is seeking a self-motivated Controller to provide leadership for the company’s financial and contractual environment, including pricing; and ensures all proper controls and systems are in place for the company to operate soundly and compliantly. 

 Job Overview

You will participate as an integral member of the Syndetix team, with providing support to our Financial Team to include general oversight and assistance of the accounts payable, payroll cycles, and managing the accounts receivable/billing cycle.   Maintaining and reconciling the general ledger, assistance in monthly financial reporting, assisting with the month and year end close.   Support all activities relating to U.S. Government and Commercial Contracts administration activities (cost reimbursable and firm fixed prices).  Assist with government audits with DCAA/DCMA, and other outside audits as required.

 Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all accounting functions, monthly entries, payroll review and processing, recording of all transactions, posting, monthly closing and balancing of accounts and maintenance of the General and subsidiary ledgers in a Business Central Dynamics 365 Microsoft accounting system.
  • Direct the preparation and ensures the accuracy of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, statement of cash flows, tax returns, financial ratios analysis and reports for banking and government regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Contracting vehicle Compliance (GSA, etc.), Federal Acquisition (FAR) regulations and other regulatory requirements - especially those governing federal procurement.
  • Oversees the accounting function in providing and directing procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls in compliance with US GAAP and the firm's Corporate Accounting Policies.
  • Oversees Accounts Payable function ensuring all expense reports, vendor payments and other items are processed correctly.
  • Oversees Invoicing function, ensuring invoices are accurate and delivered timely to clients.
  • Performs program and indirect cost reviews, rate validations, forecasting of labor and overhead rates.  Monthly prepares reports for the Senior Leadership Team showing spending vs. budget and identifying any problems that need to be addressed.
  • Establishes and monitors internal budgets (both direct and indirect).
  • Directs and oversees the preparation of Incurred Cost Submissions, Provisional Rate Negotiations and Financial Audit Reports.
  • Oversees the contracts function in providing and directing procedures and systems necessary to maintain administration and compliance.
  • Directs the analysis of contracts and past operations, trends, and costs, estimated and realized revenues, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred.
  • Advises on strategy for win on pricing of proposals.
  • Reviews and participates in the preparation of cost estimates and pricing for bids and proposals.
  • Lead, guide, mentor and supervise the accounting and finance staff.
  • Must demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and commitment to achieving results.
  • Assist with development, negotiation and execution of NDAs, Consultant and Subcontractor agreements and other standard and non-standard business agreements.
  • Analyze contractual requirements, special provisions and terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and support compliance with Contract Requirements.
  • Provide guidance to management and staff on contractual process.
  • Assist with ITAR/EAR reviews to ensure appropriate handling of export-controlled data.
  • Assist business in understanding and satisfying contract delivery requirements.
  • Assist with developing and enhancing strategic processes that optimize business infrastructure and streamline business processes in the area of contract management.

Qualifications:

Minimum bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Finance or Economics.

10+ years related experience with 5 years supervisory experience, or a combination of equivalent experience, training, and education.  At least 5 years working in a government contractin
