About the Role

Join our team!As a Security Specialist II, you will be responsible for facilitating administrative security processes such as personnel security, incoming visitor coordination, badging activities, and other general security customer service activities. You'll manage classified material and document control activities, control Communication Security materials, administer local physical security systems, and conduct inventories of classified holdings. In addition, you will assist in the development and implementation of security practices to maintain compliance with security regulations, support security awareness education and training, assist with the Security Clearance process for employees, and participate in security self-assessment initiatives.

About the Role
As a Security Specialist II, you will be responsible for facilitating administrative security processes such as incoming visitor coordination, badging activities, and other general security customer service activities. Primary job responsibility for this position is issuing and maintaining NASA badges. You'll administer local physical security systems. In addition, you will assist in the development and implementation of security practices to maintain compliance with security regulations, develop and implement security awareness education and training, and participate in security self-assessment initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience
Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Tier 1 background check or higher US security clearance
Strong verbal and electronic communication skills
Familiarity with security regulations and best practices
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of the NASA badging process
Knowledge of 32 CFR 117: National Industrial Security Program (NISPOM)
Previous experience with access control/visit control/badge management systems and software
Military or Defense Contractor experience
An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance
Knowledge of DD254 and Program Classification Guides
