The Director of Accounting Operations is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the payroll and accounts payable teams. Reporting to the Vice President of Accounting, this highly visible role plays a crucial part in aligning our accounting operations with the overall company vision. As a key member of the finance leadership team, the Director will lead, strategize, and execute on initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the accounting operations department.

  • Lead the end-to-end procure-to-pay lifecycle, oversee T&E and credit card programs, and manage payroll processing.
  • Take ownership of the design of the accounts payable and payroll systems, driving improvements and efficiencies.
  • Lead the team through vendor selection, requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, training, and integrations for new systems 
  • Develop and execute the strategic vision and roadmap for the accounting operations team, driving transformational change in processes and systems to meet business objectives.
  • Contribute significantly to the development of the operational and system roadmap for the finance department.
  • Ensure the efficient day-to-day operations of the finance organization by implementing best practices in internal processes and systems.
  • Enable the accounting operations team to deliver high-quality and efficient services to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Design, document, implement, and maintain effective procedures and controls for accounts payable and payroll processes, ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Support company initiatives to leverage automation and technology solutions for operational enhancements.
  • Develop and report on key performance metrics and service level agreements to monitor departmental performance.
  • Manage the accounting operations budget to ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Provide support for month-end close activities and respond to internal and external audit requests.
  • Stay informed about industry standards and benchmark against similar companies to ensure best practices.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and serve as a change agent to execute the company's vision.
  • Develop unified desktop procedures across the organization to enhance training and consistency.
  • Take a proactive role in people development and management within the accounting operations teams.

 

A Bit About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting management roles within high-growth companies, with a preference for healthcare industry experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting operations leadership roles, overseeing various operational functions.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading leaders (other Managers or Directors).
  • Have experience leading the end-to-end procure-to-pay lifecycle, oversee T&E and credit card programs, and manage payroll processing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field 
  • Experience with Advanced ERP Systems: working with advanced ERP systems, such as Netsuite, Coupa, Sage Intacct, ADP, and or Workday. Sage Intacct and Coupa at a minimum.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • CPA Certification: Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is highly preferred. This qualification demonstrates an advanced understanding of accounting principles and signifies a commitment to professional excellence, enhancing the candidate's ability to contribute to accurate financial planning and compliance.
  • Audit Experience: Previous experience in conducting and managing external audits is desirable. Candidates with a background in responding to external audit requests and preparing audit schedules will bring valuable expertise to the role, facilitating a smoother audit process.
  • Industry-Specific Knowledge: A candidate with industry-specific knowledge, particularly in fields related to healthcare or pharmacy, would be advantageous.
