Description
The Environmental Services Team Lead will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the daily operations
of the Environmental Services (EVS) team to ensure a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for patients, staff, and
visitors. This role will involve both hands-on cleaning tasks and leadership responsibilities, including staff
supervision, training, and quality control.
Specific Duties:
- Oversee, coordinate, and participate in the cleaning and maintenance of assigned areas to meet organizational standards
- Supervise, train, and support environmental services staff, ensuring proper procedures and protocols are followed
- Conduct inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and infection control policy compliance
- Operate floor cleaning machines, such as buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums
- Follow and enforce safety procedures and guidelines
- Address and resolve any issues related to cleaning, maintenance, or staff performance
- Serve as a liaison between the environmental services team and other departments to coordinate services and respond to special requests
- Promote a positive work environment and support the development of team members
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to supervisor
- Assist with other cleaning tasks as needed
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in environmental services or housekeeping, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting
- Supervisory or team leadership experience is highly preferred
- Strong attention to detail
Required Skill/Abilities:
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to establish professional relationships with various health care workers
- Ability to function independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively assign tasks and to follow oral and written instructions
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies
Special Physical/Working Conditions:
- The Environmental Services Team Lead will be required to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods of time.
- They may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and other hazards and will be required to follow safety procedures and guidelines.
