Manager, Software Development

Blackbaud is seeking a dynamic Manager of Software Development for our Fintech Pillar. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead engineering teams in developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining our enterprise payments solutions. The successful candidate will establish and uphold engineering best practices, identify critical gaps in development processes, and drive strategic projects. They will inspire and empower their teams, leading by example to ensure healthy business operations and foster innovation. The role also involves developing employees through goal setting and coaching best practices and processes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Working in an agile development environment, leading multiple teams of software engineers in development and enterprise cloud-based maintenance activities
• Recruiting and cultivating highly engaged teams, coaching team members on their career growth, and ensuring their connection to the outcomes and purpose of their work
• Managing team members' performance through goal setting and measurement, coaching, recognition, and feedback through regular one-on-one meetings and quarterly evaluations
• Mentoring team leads and senior engineers to continually improve leadership across the team
• Partnering with product management and customer support to prioritize team backlogs, ensure engineering investment is represented, and align with market needs and prioritization
• Providing proactively clear, transparent communication on team progress within the organization through project timelines and risk assessments
• Leading the continuous improvement of software development processes through collaboration with peers and architects

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience managing full-stack software development teams in an agile environment
• 6+ years in the software development field working directly within engineering teams
• Demonstrative experience in delivering successful large-scale projects from inception to release
• Demonstrative experience in software engineering best practices such as design patterns, decoupled architectures, test-driven development, and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to achieve results through influence
• Demonstrative experience developing cloud solutions (Microsoft Azure and/or AWS) and an understanding of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in Fintech/Payments software development
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure (AKS, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL), Azure DevOps, and Angular
• Experience managing remote teams and team members both onshore and offshore
• Experience with delivering cross-platform mobile applications
