As a Software Engineering Manager on the HPC Engineering Resolution Team, you will oversee a level-three, high-performance computing software support team. The software engineers are responsible for providing third-level technical and product support to site team and to other level-two personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, and addressing software issues on complex supercomputing and clustered environments.  These engineers respond to situations where more in-depth product knowledge is required to resolve complicated issues.  The team members work closely with engineering when issues need to be elevated to that level and to help improve the design of future HPC products.

Will work remote, with the understanding that if the successful candidate lives near an HPE office, in a nearby city, the candidates will be open to traveling to the office when required and/or as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of software technical support analysts (setting goals, monitoring progress, and managing performance).
  • Collect, analyze, and report on data related to problem reports and service trends.
  • Ensure adherence to support processes.
  • Engage in and lead teams to enhance or improve those processes.
  • Engage in and track customer critical issues/sites.
  • Engage with service program managers, business unit product managers, marketing, supply chain, technical leaders and executives to communicate program status, escalate issues, and guide and influence strategic decision-making.
  • Work with vendor managers to manage relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, and issue resolution; ensures that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with outsourced resources.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process and product improvement and cost reductions opportunities. Collaboratively works with Service and Engineering Management to realize those opportunities.
  • Provide overall people-care management for direct reports, including hiring, setting and monitoring of periodic performance plans, coaching, and career development; drive and foster organization-wide performance standards, expectations, and practices to support ongoing team member and process development.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • After hours and on-call work will be required periodically.

  • Strong technical background
  • Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in managing human capital across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.
  • Strong communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences.
    (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in English and local language.
  • Advanced business acumen, technical knowledge, and industry experience encompassing one or more engineering, technology, and product domains.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting.
  • General knowledge of Linux, work loads, and compiler environments, a plus
  • Hardware networking a plus

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced university degree preferred
