This role is based in the Atlanta or Nashville/Hermitage area.
Overview
Deloitte Services LP includes internal support areas like Finance and Administration, Talent, Information Technology, Marketing and Communications, and Facilities Management. This Tax Senior role is part of our internal US Firms Tax (“USFT”) team. The USFT team is a subset of our Finance and Administration group. The USFT team sets tax policy for the Deloitte US Firms in the US and other countries where it operates. The team handles all domestic and foreign compliance for the Deloitte US Firms’ entities.
About the Team
The Federal & State Direct Tax team analyzes and computes book-tax differences, as well as calculates taxable income and prepares federal partnership returns. It analyzes state apportionment and federal to state law adjustments. The team prepares state partnership, composite, and withholding tax returns. It also produces and distributes annual K-1 packages for all active and retired US Firms partners.
Job Overview & Key Relationships:
As a Tax Accountant, you will prepare and compute book-tax differences. You will calculate taxable income and prepare federal partnership returns. You will analyze state apportionment and state law adjustments. You will prepare state partnership, composite, and withholding tax returns. You will produce and distribute the annual K-1 packages. This job requires work on federal and state returns and K-1 preparation. You will also help improve our people, processes, and technology.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare schedules and working papers for the US Firms’ partnership federal, state, and local income tax returns. Include certain partner-related information.
- Produce and distribute annual partner K-1 packages, including allocations of income, deductions, and separately stated items to US Firms partners.
- Assist in preparing US firms’ federal, state, and local income tax returns. This includes composite nonresident income tax returns and some partner-related information.
- Perform tax research as necessary regarding federal and state tax issues affecting the US Firms.
- Coordinate on federal withholding information returns.
- Assist in analysis and calculation of required estimated state tax payments.
- Assist with federal, state, and local tax audits and correspond with authorities regarding audit issues and/or tax notices.
Additional aspects of the role include:
- Prepare selected general ledger accounts monthly for appropriateness of state tax accruals.
- Assisting with engagement workflow management.
- Assist with the annual partner state tax elections process. Collect nonresident non-joiner affidavits.
- Review each partner's withholding, PET, and composite tax calculations.
- Assist with partner questions regarding federal or state or local tax matters related to their K-1 information and withholdings.
- Assist with implementation of any federal or state or local tax related legislation.
- Make recommendations on business and process improvements related to US Firms tax matters.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Taxation required.
- 1+ year of prior experience.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
- Role is based in the Atlanta or Nashville/Hermitage area
Preferred:
- Advanced degree.
- Eligible for CPA or other relevant certification.
- Experience in a professional services firm.
- Understanding of federal and state partnership tax compliance, tax research, and tax planning.
- Tax forecasting / planning experience.
- Partner level income allocations.
