You will be using your skills and expertise to define, design, develop, test, certify and improve cutting-edge software products. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of systems and software throughout our development process. Your technical duties involve the design and development of new software products throughout the product lifecycle.We are seeking a Senior Software Systems Engineer with a bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or a related Engineering field to join the Air Vehicle team as a Software Systems Engineer in support of the Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) program. As a Software Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in defining avionics system architecture, development, and the integration of both new and existing avionics equipment onto the SAOC platform. Additionally, you will support the Air Vehicle team in characterizing the various data buses and data flows across the aircraft to aid with engineering design and aircraft sustainment.
Success Looks Like:
Collaborating with Program Management and other engineering disciplines on technical approaches
Demonstrating willingness to work in System Integration Lab and aircraft environments
Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
Providing software insight and technical expertise to assist with characterization of aircraft avionics systems
Analyzing context of deliverable solution against constraints and available technology
Developing unique tools and techniques to analyze and document existing aircraft data busses
Exercising independent judgment on software architecture, methods, and techniques to achieve results
Effectively collaborating with internal and external teams to develop and integrate software systems that meet DO-178C certification standards
Qualifications The Employee Must Have
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience
The ability to obtain/maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Experience with architecting and developing embedded software systems
Familiarity with safety critical software development
Experience integrating software with avionics data buses or serial interfaces
Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience architecting, developing and integrating avionics software
- Experience integrating with existing or legacy aircraft platforms
- Experience developing software to DO-178C DAL-B/C certification
- Experience with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, CAN Bus
- Experience integrating existing legacy and new avionics systems
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Cameo or similar
