Lead SAP Financial Systems Initiatives, Collections and Disbursements (Remote)

The ability to contribute within a team environment and employ a customer focused approach to the job are vital to all areas of Protective Life. You will be a key part of the team that is responsible for supporting, implementing, and developing SAP solutions across the broad array of 3rd party systems within the Protective Life organization.  In this position you will be responsible for managing the project team in the planning, implementation, and execution of SAP Financial System projects.  Additionally, you will partner with key contacts throughout the various organizational and functional areas at Protective to execute the SAP project roadmap and drive the ongoing needs of the Business Accounting/Finance and IT organizations through the integration of the SAP S/4 HANA suite of services.  To be successful in this role you will need a strong background in managing large scale initiatives, accounting, project leadership, problem-solving abilities, and a thorough understanding of insurance accounting.

• 7+ years of applicable business experience (finance/insurance preferred), including project work with a high level of complexity
• 5-7 years of SAP integration experience within a large organization across at least one finance related sub-module
• Relevant finance sub-modules of SAP are FSCD, FPSL, FI-GL, FI-AP, FI-BL, FI-AA, CO-CCA, CO-PCA, GL/CC allocations, embedded BPC, or MDG finance-related master data
• Working in a 3-tier landscape (development, quality, production)
• Experience managing teams in an IT/Financial Accounting environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Information Technology
• Experience working with IT systems, developers and business analysts during project implementation and testing stages
• Experience writing functional/technical specifications
• Knowledge of finance business processes and linkage to finance and non-finance systems
• Strong skills in solving problems, analyzing data, prioritizing work
• Demonstrate communication skills as well as the ability to work with multiple teams / time zones

Preferred Experience:

• GAAP Accounting knowledge  
• SAP S/4 HANA version 2020 or later
• Any one or more of the following SAP products
• o   SAP Financial Products Sub-Ledger (FPSL)
• o   SAP Insurance or Bank Analyzer
• o   SAP Collections and Disbursements (FSCD)
• o   SAP Analysis for Office (AFO)
• o   SAP S/4 HANA embedded analytics
• At least one full-cycle S/4 implementation, S/4 migration, or S/4 upgrade project, preferably within Premiums, Collections, and Disbursements.
• Collaboration with external banking systems to develop interfaces to banks and SAP system to process inbound and outbound ACH transactions, wire transactions, check encashment, and positive pay.
• Insurance Accounting, Finance, or related experience
• Certifications from SAP for either S/4 HANA Financial Accounting, S/4 HANA Management Accounting, S/4
