We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic and driven individual to help lead our Shipping & Receiving Department in the role of Shipping & Receiving Lead Hand at our Port Colborne, ON facility.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
- Ensure all employees are following safety guidelines and best manufacturing practices as outlined by CPEG Oskam to ensure safety.
- Ensure CPEG Oskam employees understand the job specific instructions and monitor daily activities to ensure compliance with Ministry of Labour guidelines as out lined in Occupational and Safety Act and Regulations.
- Lead employees in daily activities and job duties and conduct daily huddles for department.
- Supervise all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure they are correct and carried out in a timely fashion.
- Leadership is responsible for all safety of employees during operations, which includes ensuring that properly trained and skilled employees are on the job.
- Report any issues that influence an employee or piece of equipment to your direct manager.
- Manage all incoming quality documents and ensure required quality documentation and procedures are complete before shipment from the facility.
- Management to be consulted on all items large or small when any conflict or concern is raised.
- Review all matters with your manager related to possible disciplinary action. It is the lead’s responsibility to pursue any matters related to possible disciplinary action.
- Weekly review of non-conforming material and goods to be returned.
- Implement, lead, and training department on new policies and initiatives and ensure that they are followed through with.
- Work with the Outsource/Material Coordinator and Shipping & Receiving Administrator to ensure all material that is sent from the facility is clearly identifiable, traceable and sent in a timely matter.
Secondary Tasks & Responsibilities
- Return all packing slips that are received.
- Unloading trucks and verifying items.
- Maintain inventory in shop and yard – including marking all material, skids, boxes, etc.
- Loading of outgoing trucks.
- Maintain all storage shelving and bins.
- Assisting in general clean up.
- Arrange general pick-ups & deliveries with Shipping & Receiving Administrator
- Daily checklist for tow motors.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday: 7:00AM - 3:30PM
- Overtime as needed
Preferred Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous lead hand/supervisory experience and an interest in training and leading people
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills
- Experience with continuous improvement (Lean/Kaizen) manufacturing concepts is a strong asset
- Ability to work in a fast paced, quickly changing environment
- Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgement in stressful situations
- Lead Hand/Supervisory: 3 years (preferred)
- Shipping & Receiving: 3 years (preferred)
