The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate inventory records of aggregate materials by utilizing advanced drone technology to measure and monitor stockpile volumes. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of production data, inventory reports, and material reconciliation for operational efficiency and financial integrity.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities  

  • Drone Operations: 

    • Operate drones to perform aerial surveys of rock and aggregate stockpiles at multiple sites. 

    • Plan and execute drone flight paths in compliance with FAA regulations and company safety policies. 

    • Conduct routine drone maintenance and pre-flight inspections to ensure operational readiness. 

  • Inventory Management: 

    • Capture and process drone imagery to calculate accurate volumes using 3D mapping software (e.g., Pix4D, Drone Deploy, Stockpile Reports). 

    • Maintain detailed records of inventory counts and reconcile against production, shipment, and sales data. 

    • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual physical inventory audits. 

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: 

    • Generate and distribute inventory reports to key stakeholders including operations, sales, and accounting teams. 

    • Identify and investigate inventory variances and work with site supervisors to resolve discrepancies. 

    • Use GPS, GIS, and survey data to support planning and forecasting of material availability. 

  • Compliance and Documentation: 

    • Ensure drone usage complies with local, state, and federal laws, including FAA Part 107 regulations. 

    • Maintain flight logs, inspection records, and inventory documentation in accordance with company standards. 

  • Cross-Functional Support: 

    • Collaborate with quarry managers, plant operators, and logistics personnel to improve inventory accuracy. 

    • Participate in safety meetings and support continuous improvement initiatives. 

 

Requirements 

  • Ability to read, write and do basic math calculations. 

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. 

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. 

  • High level of skill in Stockpile Reports software. 

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Power Bi.
