The Aerospace Corporation is hiring an Undergraduate Power Systems Engineering Intern.
The Electronics and Sensors Division (ESD) is a world-class engineering and scientific leader in electronics and remote sensing systems. Our staff includes subject matter experts across a broad range of disciplines including radio frequency; infrared; visible and spectral sensors; sensor exploitation methods; analog and digital electronics; vehicle power systems; and space system electronic parts, materials and processes. Our expertise, combined with sophisticated in-house laboratories, prototyping, modeling, and simulation capabilities, enables ESD to deliver innovative solutions to national space systems and civil customers.
Work Model
This position will be located 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA.
What You’ll Be Doing
Provide Power Systems Engineering technical support.
Apply academic technical skills to create satellite energy balance and / or launch vehicle energy depletion analysis models, while working under the guidance and support of industry experts.
Work with experienced Power Systems Engineering staff to increase knowledge and understanding of major satellite subsystem elements that operate on the spacecraft and / or launch vehicle power bus.
Utilize and/or develop system level modeling tools and resources that facilitate hardware performance characterization.
Learn how satellites operate through launch and initialization.
Gain an understanding of how other spacecraft subsystems and related focus areas like Thermal Control, Attitude Control, Flight Mechanics, and Communications work concurrently to generate data products for vehicle level assessments.
Gain exposure to power electronics modeling, simulation, and testing in a laboratory environment.
Write clear and concise reports that document your work.

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship.
Junior class standing completed by internship start date
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Completed coursework and/or fundamental knowledge of power systems.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
