Within our Business Unit DBS we are looking for a Global Commodity Manager (m/f/d) either in Heidelberg (Germany) or in our other european countries like Poland, Hungary or Sweden.
About the role
- Lead the development of, execute, cross-functionally communicate and maintain Global Strategic Commodity Business Plans which include:
- Global Commodity Strategies.
- Supplier Rationalization Strategy (grow/fix/exit strategies).
- Low Cost Economy (LCE) and Localization Strategies.
- Commodity Benchmarking - thorough understanding of benchmarking data (internal and external) as well as key commodity cost drivers.
- Track and communicate global commodity industry trends, competitor strategies, economic factors and opportunities in the global market place.
- Thorough product/process knowledge and new technologies.
- Approved Supplier list - strategic, preferred, not approved, etc.
- Develop cross-functional alignment/buy-in of all global commodity strategies and activities.
- Monitor and report compliance to commodity contracts and strategies.
- Deliver Budgeted/Forecasted Cost Reductions by assigned commodity
- Develop Cost Models to understand "should be" cost to identify and drive cost reduction opportunities and assure cost competitiveness in pursuit of new business opportunities.
- Identify Cost Reduction opportunities based on Benchmarking data base and key cost driver analysis, Capacity analysis at suppliers, Product/process improvements, Implementation of new technologies, Execution of competitive sourcing process, Commodity market trends
- Establish and lead negotiation strategies by Supplier which includes input from all Product Lines and Operations
- Support commercial relations with production material Suppliers including Non Disclosure Agreements, Requests For Quotations, Quotation Analysis, Negotiations, LTA's, Prototype/Production Procurement, Purchase Order Development and Annual Improvement Factors
- Lead resolution of commercial issues with Global/Key Commodity Suppliers when necessary
- Support Supplier Selection process
- Work collaboratively with all affected Business Units: seek cross-functional input to maximize overall impact
- Gain Sourcing Board approval on sourcing recommendations when needed (resource, raw mat, etc.)
- Ensure source/resource recommendations are implemented on time and at recommended pricing levels
- Manage the supply base globally
- Track Supplier Performance Metrics - Quality, Delivery and Cost
- Understand supply base structure, financial strength, book of business, manufacturing/engineering capabilities, open capacity, strengths and weaknesses
- Create and execute action plans to reduce exposure to financially stressed suppliers.
- Maximize the leverage of the global team
- Create bundled eRFQ's to leverage global buy
About you
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree and MBA or secondary graduate degree required
- 10+ years Supply Management experience working in Automotive Production Purchasing
- Increasing responsibility in an automotive production environment
- Strong background in Cost Reduction and Process Improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills and assessing suppliers
- Strategy development and execution experience desired
- Fluency in Foreign Language preferred
- Experience Managing and Leading Teams
- Critical Analysis Skills
- Excellent Negotiation Skills
- Communication & Computer skills
- Must be able to work within a Team environment of conflicting opinions, ideas and solutions and provide clear direction to reach alignment of all stakeholders.

- Commodity strategies and reasons to support - ability to get buy-in
- With internal Customers and Suppliers
- With peers to set short, mid and long-term direction
- Strong Interpersonal Skills - Position interacts with all levels of BorgWarner/Supplier Management
