The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Cox Communications is hiring an Accounting Analyst II on the Enterprise Accounting team. Develop, recommend, and implement accounting practices throughout CCI in accordance with GAAP to ensure that financial and operating data accurately reflect the condition of the business or unit and provides reliable information necessary to control operations. This is a role offers a unique blend of traditional accounting duties and focus areas on innovation, automation, and process improvement.
The Accounting Analyst II will report to the Manager, Accounting and will be responsible for Accounting Operations as well as supporting the Finance and Accounting leadership with reporting and analytics. The Senior Accountant is a key business partner with the business functional teams and a key liaison between Enterprise Accounting and functional business areas.
Productive professional contributor with strong understanding of area of focus. Assigned to larger, moderately complex projects. Work requires increasing independence; guidance is provided on a regular basis but primarily on unusual or complex issues. Work typically involves periodic review of output by others.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with GAAP.
Performs analysis of data used to record transactions, reconcile general ledger accounts, and ensure the accuracy of financial statements
Performs routine financial and/or operational analyses and identifies emerging trends which may include, cost analysis, financial and expense performance comparisons, calculations of rate of return, cash flows, and forecasting/budgeting. Creates visualization of analysis performed on the data.
Records and performs routine transactions such as, journal entries, cash receipts, retirement of assets, project setup.
Develop subject matter expertise within area of focus.
Monitor and optimize business processes by reviewing operational & financial processes to ensure compliance and effectiveness, identifying anomalies and making recommendations.
Make recommendations on the appropriate course of action based on the analysis performed.
Provide ad-hoc analysis based on customer need.
Assists with policy updates & development.
Perform special projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 2+ years of experience in a related field (i.e. Accounting and Analysis etc.). A candidate may also have a Master's Degree with generally 2 years of experience. A non-degreed candidate will have 6+ years of experience.
Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
Experience working with a centralized or shared services accounting environment preferred
Experience in telecommunications industry desired
