Director, Analytics and Governance

We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Director of Analytics and Governance to lead Coupa's Data and Analytics team. The ideal candidate will possess over 10 years of relevant experience in analytics, data governance, and team leadership. They should have a strong understanding of data governance practices, excellent business relationship management skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in SQL, Tableau, and DBT is essential, along with a deep understanding of Snowflake, Fivetran, and other ETL tools.

What you will do:

• Lead and oversee the Analytics and Governance team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to team members
• Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, quality, and security of our data assets
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and priorities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, scope, and deliverables
• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of BI projects, from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance
• Design and optimize data models and architecture to support analytical and reporting requirements
• Hands-on involvement in data analysis, visualization, and storytelling to uncover insights and drive data-driven decision-making
• Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the BI team
• Monitor and ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of BI solutions, including dashboards, reports, and data pipelines
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in analytics, data governance, and technology

What you will bring to Coupa:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred
• 10+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, and frameworks
• Proven track record of successfully leading and managing high-performing teams
• Expertise in SQL for data manipulation and analysis a must
• Proficiency in Tableau for data visualization and reporting
• Experience with DBT (Data Build Tool) for data transformation and modeling a must
• Deep understanding of Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms
• Familiarity with ETL tools such as Fivetran, Stitch, or Airflow
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities effectively
