Production Planner
Bollinger Motors is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Production Planner to create master production schedules, manage supplier order releases, develop effective and efficient inventory management processes, optimize in-plant material flows, and facilitate supplier & customer logistics. This position reports to the MP&L Manager. This is an in-person role at our contract manufacturing in Livonia, MI with occasional travel to our headquarters in Oak Park, MI.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish and manage the master production scheduling process for an automotive assembly manufacturing operation. Create consistent, level build schedules to support efficient manufacturing processes and accurate and timely supplier delivery schedules.
- Develop and manage a process for managing supplier order releases to support 100% on-time and in-full deliveries. This entails leveraging Bollinger’s Plex ERP system to provide timely demand planning information, optimize component inventory levels, and ensure accurate perpetual inventories.
- Work cross-functionally to optimize set up of Plex ERP system parameters to accurately support production scheduling, inventory management, and shipping/receiving activities.
- Assist manufacturing and engineering personnel to optimize in-plant material flow processes from in-house storage to the manufacturing assembly line in an accurate and timely manner. Assist with developing standards and controls for material handling, storage, part availability, and system transactions.
- Actively assist with establishing robust inventory management processes for the following functions: receiving, storage, kitting, assembly line-side delivery, and shipping. This requires engaging with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and outside suppliers to optimize packaging designs, inventory levels, storage areas, system transactions, and part movement throughout the plant.
- Assist with establishing an inventory cycle counting process and drive accuracy levels to > 98%. Work cross-functionally to root cause and correct perpetual vs. physical inventory variances. Support plant physical inventory activities as required.
- Support internal shipping and receiving activities as needed to ensure timely and accurate inventory transactions.
- Manage inbound supplier and outbound customer freight. Coordinate with 3PL partners to establish efficient carrier routing guides for suppliers and ensure effective delivery to customers.
- Actively assist with tracking and improving metrics for inbound/outbound delivery performance, inventory accuracy, schedule attainment, and logistics cost.
Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of materials management, production planning, and logistics experience at an automotive OEM or tier one manufacturer.
- Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) a plus.
- Experience with establishing materials management processes in a new manufacturing startup facility is desirable.
- Solid understanding of ERP systems (preferably Plex), AIAG MMOG guidelines, lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and value stream mapping.
- Extensive experience managing inventory moves, accuracy, and storage methods.
- Familiar with Bill of Process (BOP), Bill of Material (BOM), and Manufacturing Bill of Material (MBOM).
- Possess a go-getter attitude and high level of initiative.
- Ability to work in a team and individually with limited supervision.
