About the Role:
We are looking for someone to tell high quality stories with us and lead our communications strategy and team in the U.S. This role is at the leading edge of our proactive and reactive communications.
You will have outstanding relationships with top tier media, and an innate ability to find, articulate and propagate inspiring stories weaving together multiple narratives (product, people, philosophy), cross-functional leadership skills that inspire and motivate talented teams to achieve unrivalled performance and be the sparring partner for our leaders across the countries.

Accountabilities
Leadership
A strong contributor to the global Communications Team demonstrating leadership in the ‘how’ and the ‘what’ we communicate, playing a proactive role in evolving our approach and developing our people.
Be an engaged leader in the cluster leadership team. Show involvement across all departments to maximize integration of communications in the wider business in the US market.
Demonstrate high business acumen and understanding of Dyson. Provide strategic communications advice to the Managing Director and the Leadership team of U.S.
Build strong bridges with Group Communications team to ensure clear definition and understanding of roles and responsibilities between central teams and market teams.
Manage budgets to ensure efficiencies across the cluster and get the tools and resources to carry out local and cluster announcements.
Drive a comprehensive program to advance Dyson’s mission and goals across product, reputation, corporate and internal communications for the market – launching products, sustaining products, thought leadership and reactive communication.
Contribute to the wider Americas organization by regularly expanding your remit to regional projects.
Communication Skills
Devise and implement excellent internal and external communications strategies focused on telling stories around our core technology, our machines, our corporate stories, our people and places and the Dyson philosophy.
Show in depth knowledge and experience of the US media landscape: own a network of key top tier contacts and understand the ins and outs of media relation.
Oversee a programmed of proactive media to build Dyson’s reputation as an innovating engineering company.
Drive the continuation and development of new formats and platforms in interaction with internal and external stakeholders. Be it online, on social media channels, as well as in traditional media.
Oversee in-depth real-time monitoring, analysis reporting, and response to press coverage and social media interactions on a timely basis and across a wide spectrum of media, providing updates to the business on a regular basis.
Identify emerging issues and opportunities facing the organization and design strategies to manage their impact including crisis management.
Own the voice of Dyson in the U.S. and ensure a consistently high level of execution across all channels.
Team Management
Lead a team spread across multiple locations/cities, drive motivation and engagement amongst team members.
Support team members with growth plans and identify opportunities to develop and rise them to the next level.
Drive the U.S. team to promote good news and manage the bad to inspire our owners to spread the word on our behalf.
Superior management skills: ability to influence and engage people up, down, and across the organization to bring about change.
About You:
- A detailed knowledge of U.S. media across all its platforms with successful management experience either in house, agency side, or media side
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher
Fluent in English. Another language is a plus
Minimum 12+ years’ experience in a management role focused on communications – either in-house, agency side or as a journalist
