About the team
The Stripe Accounting Team is responsible for supporting all businesses at Stripe, consulting on accounting implications and supporting teams' ability to make informed strategic decisions. We are responsible for the accurate and timely recording of all business-generated transactions on our balance sheet and income statement. We operate in a fast-paced environment and collaborate significantly with cross-functional and international teams.
What you’ll do
The Stripe Accounting Team is expanding and is seeking a leader to oversee the accounting for our Financial Services, Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) and other Emerging Products, including Capital, Issuing, and Treasury. In this role, you will have end-to-end controllership over certain BaaS and Emerging products. You will advise on accounting implications for new products and features, and you will provide critical input driving the Company’s strategic decisions. Responsibilities
- Partner closely with our product and finance partners to thoroughly understand new products, features, and contracts, and advise on accounting implications
- Research and prepare technical accounting analyses
- Plan, perform, and review monthly and quarterly close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis and analytical reviews, producing internal management reporting and external audit support
- Build scalable accounting processes to support global growth
- Design, implement and execute internal control procedures
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures

Minimum requirements
- 10+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience. Strong preference for experience in financial services or financial instruments accounting.
- B.A. or B.S degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
- Fluency in U.S. GAAP, in particular for financial instruments (e.g. ASC 860, ASC 310, ASC 320, ASC 325, ASC 326) and ability to research complex accounting issues
- Experience in ASC 606 is also preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal
- Strong knowledge of Excel and experience working with large data sets
- Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and is adaptable to change
- Experience with internal controls (design, implementation and execution)
- Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing results
- Solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practices
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and grow a team of high performing individuals
