Job Description:
The Senior Technician, Maintenance is a critical member of the Engineering, Maintenance, and Site Services (EMSS) team, providing comprehensive technical support to our manufacturing site, which includes clean utilities, facilities equipment, manufacturing production equipment, quality labs, and a warehouse. The candidate will support the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of biopharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry standards. This is a second shift position.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform routine maintenance tasks and troubleshoot complex process systems, including but not limited to:
Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Equipment (e.g., filling machines, lyophilizers, autoclaves, tanks, controlled temperature units (CTUs), automated inspection machines, robots).
Automated Systems (e.g., Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)).
Clean-In-Place (CIP) Systems.
Maintenance Equipment (e.g., calibration tools and general maintenance tools).
Documentation and Compliance:
Assist in developing/improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) plans.
Document findings in the appropriate systems and escalate as needed.
Ensure adherence to GMP regulatory requirements, safety initiatives, and Hazardous Energy Control Procedures.
Quality & Safety Compliance:
Examine issues from multiple perspectives (safety, compliance, equipment, process, and personnel) to identify root causes effectively.
Communicate and document deviations and interface with relevant approvers for resolution.
Participate in safety audits and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and cleanroom gowning during job duties.
Communication and Collaboration:
Interface with various departments, contractors, and disciplines to schedule repairs and maintenance of equipment/systems.
Support daily meetings to facilitate effective communication across the organization and escalate issues as necessary.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for area/process information during tours and provide necessary training for system maintenance as required.
Financial Management:
Order and maintain spare parts inventory for assigned process equipment.
Ensure inventory transactions are accurate, timely, and complete.
Identify and communicate opportunities for cost savings within maintenance operations.
Qualifications:
Education:
Minimum of an Associate Degree in Industrial Systems, Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of plant maintenance experience with knowledge of technical craft skills (instrumentation, electrical, plumbing, advanced mechanical, HVAC, and/or multi-stage refrigeration systems).
Familiarity with GMP manufacturing operations is preferred.
Experience with biopharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and processes is highly advantageous.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CMMS Calibration/Maintenance Database Systems.
Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs, Siemens Apogee BAS, and the ability to read P&IDs, electrical drawings, and blueprints.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
Must be willing and able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders/stairs, work on elevated platforms, and perform physical tasks such as walking, bending, crawling, and stooping.
Availability for on-call work rotation, weekend overtime, and routine daytime shifts.
Preferred Skills:
cGMP experience in a sterile, bulk, or finished pharmaceutical environment.
SAP experience related to plant maintenance and spare parts procurement systems.
Work Environment: The Senior Technician will be required to work in various environments, including cleanrooms and manufacturing facilities. Adherence to strict safety and compliance standards is mandatory.
