Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Major Responsibilities
- Perform root cause analysis of breakdowns and implement corrective actions
- Prepare written maintenance instructions, records, and procedures
- Maintain accurate and timely records in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) “Maximo”
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks industrial manufacturing equipment
- Perform rebuild on bench top equipment such as heat treatment systems
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Lead Preventative Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Supervisor/Coordinator
Skills/Characteristics Desired
- Self-motivated
- Strong and systematic analytical and troubleshooting skills
- In-depth understanding of electrical and mechanical principles
- Thorough working knowledge of electrical, mechanical systems
- Experience with LOTO and electrical safety
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
- Experience in the use of hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and machine shop equipment
- Good communication skills
- Accuracy, attention to details, and strong organizational skills
- Ability to react positively to rapidly changing priorities
- Capable of independently managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Demonstrated initiative and an eagerness to drive continuous improvement
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Candidate will perform hands on preventative maintenance on process equipment supporting the cabling process equipment at the plant.
- Candidate will assist in determining what spare parts are required on hand for that equipment.
- Candidate will write and execute preventive maintenance procedures and schedules for that equipment.
- Main point of contact for communication with operations for duration of PM’s
- Coordination of materials and parts needed to complete the PM’s
- Give direction and delegate task to junior PM team members
- The Subject Matter Expert for process equipment PM procedures and rebuilds for heat treatment system, capstan roller racks, skaltek tire assembly, gear boxes, UV power supplies and irradiator systems
- Responsible for make the call when process equipment is okay to return to service versus keep down for needed rebuild
