Position Overview
This position is responsible for the appraisal and inventory of maintenance and traffic facilities, major equipment, parts, materials, and tools. This position monitors the preventive maintenance program for maintenance trucks and the compliance of maintenance and traffic field personnel with established policies and rules.
Essential Functions
- Appraises and reports on the Bureau of Operations facilities, major equipment, parts, tools, and materials usage.
- Monitors and reports on the preventive maintenance program for the highway maintenance program and for maintenance trucks/equipment.
- Assures conformance by district Bureau of Operations personnel with operating safety and maintenance policies.
- Ensures open and coordinated communication and feedback between Bureau of Operations' field personnel and the district Operations Engineer.
- Investigates highway permit requests.
- Assists the district Operations Engineer and operations field staff with special projects using the department’s Assets Management Program (AMP), inventory control, and the e-procurement system (BidBuy), vehicle coordination, and record keeping.
- Processes invoices, salt purchases, tracks and processes invoices for materials and different products.
- Conducts AMP and BidBuy entries, reconciles purchases for stock items, on and off-road repairs, Central Management Services’ (CMS) statements for fuel tank purchases, on and offroad fuel purchases, and maintenance fees.
- Assists the Bureau of Operations with special projects including invoice and inventory processing, AMP and BidBuy entries, storeroom operation, and inventory as required.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree majoring in business, accounting, economics, statistics, public finance, public administration or a related field; OR Completion of two years of college PLUS one year of experience working in accounting, economics, statistics, public finance, public administration, transportation, or a combination thereof; OR Five years of experience working in accounting, economics, statistics, public finance, public administration, transportation, or a combination thereof.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

Experience with data analysis, inventory, and management.

Knowledge of applications such as Microsoft Excel, Access, and mainframe accounting systems.
