Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Political Producer to join our dynamic news production team. As a Senior Political Producer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our political news coverage. You will be responsible for planning, developing, and producing a wide range of political content, from in-depth investigative reports to live coverage of key political events. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of political issues, strong storytelling skills, and a passion for delivering news that matters. The Senior Producer will execute and oversee our weekly political public affairs show.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Political Coverage: Lead the production of political news stories and segments, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and impartiality in reporting.
  2. Research and Analysis: Stay up-to-date with political developments at local, national, and international levels. Conduct in-depth research to provide context and background information for news stories.
  3. Content Planning: Collaborate with the editorial team to plan and execute political news coverage strategies, including special features, election coverage, and interviews with key political figures.
  4. Story Development: Develop compelling story ideas, angles, and formats to engage and inform the audience.
  5. Coordination: Work closely with reporters, correspondents, and news anchors to coordinate political news coverage, ensuring smooth execution of live broadcasts and pre-recorded segments.
  6. Production Skills: Oversee all aspects of production, from scriptwriting and video editing to graphics coordination and on-air presentations.
  7. Editorial Standards: Uphold high journalistic standards, including fact-checking, source verification, and adherence to ethical guidelines.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

 

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle high-pressure situations.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, political science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in political journalism and news production.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of political issues and the political landscape.
