Pinecone makes it easy to build high-performance vector search applications with its vector database, allowing developers to manage and search through vector embeddings to power semantic search, recommenders, and other applications that rely on relevant information retrieval.

As the lead Staff Engineer on the SDKs team, you will build a product and grow a community of developers around it. The Pinecone SDK layer is a high-performance, low latency and language idiomatic software, used by hundreds of developers each day. You will:

• Lead the development of our SDKs: Rust, Python, NodeJS, Java, Go, and the future development of other tools to extend Pinecone Vector Database.
• Work with our developer community to understand the needs and work together with our Database and Platform product teams, building a product feature roadmap.
• Lead other engineers and together build the open source strategy of Pinecone.

Staff Engineers at Pinecone lead complex projects and take on large-scale company responsibilities such as API strategy, vector analytics, usability, interface design and more. 

What we look for:

• 6+ years of software engineering experience; design, architecture and implementation of both user facing and infrastructure components, databases and web services
• Experience designing complex code projects in multiple languages. 
• Native in 3+ software development languages.
• Passion and Experience designing APIs - Clients, REST. gRPC across multiple services
• Passionate about open source software development and databases.

Bonus points:

• Strong familiarity with Rust
• Experience with large scale open source projects
• Experience developing a database or query engine SDK
