Provide management, direction, control and coordination in the preparation and audit of GAAP financial statements for Minnesota State, at both institutional and system-wide levels including development of financial reporting policies and procedures, statement preparation processes, determination of required disclosure and coordination with auditors so that the Board of Trustees, System Office and institution management, Legislators and the public have reliable financial information for decision making within required timelines.
Manage and direct the staff and operations of the business office at the System Office by setting goals and objectives, monitoring and improving accounting and financial systems, policies, procedures, controls and business processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Three or more years of supervisory or lead experience, demonstrating effective supervisory and leadership skills
Five or more years of accounting experience within a financial reporting
Four-year accounting degree or equivalent
Ability to develop effective working relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues
Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards as put forth by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, and federal and state statutes
Experience with complex management information systems
Preferred Qualification
CPA or MBA degrees
Minnesota State accounting experience
Knowledge of SWIFT accounting module and state of Minnesota policies and procedures
Knowledge of Minnesota State Financial Systems
Experience with solving problems based on analyzing data
Experience with Minnesota State accounting, disbursement and receipt practices, policies and procedures
