About the role

Summary:

The Director of Strategic Insights will lead the development and execution of the organization's data strategy, focusing on optimizing the use of our data lakehouse for advanced analytics, ensuring data integrity, organizational accessibility and end user effectiveness, and managing the full data lifecycle. This role is critical in transforming our healthcare system into a data-driven organization, enabling informed and action-oriented decision-making at multiple levels of the organization, and improving patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data science, a deep understanding of healthcare data, an effective communication style to help leadership prioritize the most impactful strategic insights, and a proven track record of leading data-driven initiatives.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data management, data science, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in healthcare data management, with a deep understanding of healthcare strategy across an integrated delivery network, data standards, regulations, and use cases
  • Expertise in data science, including proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in data science, such as AI and big data analytics.
  • Certification in data management or related fields (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, Certified Analytics Professional).
  • Proven track record managing and leading clinical operational teams to effectively adopt new decision support technology with demonstrable results
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex IT concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Prior clinical, operational, financial or strategic management experience in a healthcare setting.

 

Education:

Bachelor Degree required. 

 

Essential Functions

Data Strategy and Management:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals.
  • Oversee the management and utilization of the data lakehouse, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the organization.
  • Define and manage the data lifecycle, from acquisition and storage to archiving and deletion, ensuring data quality and accessibility.
  • Establish an executive and use case specific dashboard that will track and monitor effectiveness of the data lake implementation to enhance strategic decision making and rapid cycle improvement

Data Integrity and Governance:

  • Establish and enforce data governance policies to maintain high standards of data integrity, security, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborate with IT and compliance teams to ensure data security measures are robust and up to date.
  • Develop and implement processes for data validation, cleansing, and enrichment.

Advanced Analytics and Use Cases:

  • Identify and prioritize data use cases that deliver high value to the organization, particularly in the areas of patient care, operational efficiency, and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and business teams to translate organizational needs into data-driven solutions.
  • Lead a team of data scientists and analysts in developing predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and other advanced analytics tools.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of data professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team, encouraging the exploration of new technologies and methodologies.
  • Manage resources effectively, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Ensure full alignment with TGC strategic initiatives and Strategy/SIO
  • Act as a liaison between data teams and other departments, ensuring that data insights are effectively communicated and utilized across the organization.
  • Present complex data findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Collaborate with external partners, including vendors and research institutions, to enhance the organization’s data capabilities.
